Yes Holiday! No Coupons!

This Sunday there will be NO coupon inserts in the Sunday paper.
Remember that when holidays are around this is generally the normal protocol. I know....it stinks! But it usually means that the following week will be a good one. :)

The new Valpak Deals offer consumers a chance to purchase limited-time deals at a discount of 45 percent off or more. But there's a twist on the typical "deal of the day" model   Valpak Deal savings last more than one day - up to a week or a month depending on the merchant - making it easier than ever for consumers to catch a break.
(LARGO, FL — May 3, 2011)
 — Valpak Valpak, a name synonymous with coupons, today announced it is launching Valpak Deals in Tampa Bay, offering value-conscious consumers steep discounts on smart, sensible and sensational services and products.
That flexibility gives advertisers the ability to structure their deal to match their business needs.
"We're innovating, not just imitating," said Nancy Cook, vice president of new media business Development at Valpak. "We're not confined to the limitations of one day."
The Deals can be found on www.valpak.com where consumers can buy them on demand. In addition, they can browse and print any of the 22,000 free coupons and discounts that are traditionally found on the Valpak site.

Something to be PROUD of...

Being frugal is just a nice way of saying you are CHEAP. And CHEAP is a good thing. It is also something learned.

In my early 20's, my husband and I both were making GREAT money. We had no kids, had just bought a new house and cruised around in 2 brand new vehicles. We really did not think much about finding the best price. We were the kind of people stores LOVE. We saw something we liked....we bought it.

Then came a baby. I had always said I would go back to work. All would be good and we would be back to our normal life style. Well here is a good quote I wish I had heard back then....

"Failure to prepare is
preparing for FAILURE."

Something happen when that sweet baby was placed in my arms. I could not let it go and I could not go back to work. I now wanted to be a "Stay at Home Mom" and had failed to prepare for that. With a loving and supportive husband, I quit my job. This meant our income was cut in half, but lucky for us, we got to keep all the same bills with a few extra thanks to a new baby. YEAH! Right???........ NOT! If we only had prepared, financially we could have been in a much better place.

I quickly learned to be cheap.

10 years later, my husband and I are in a different place. Even though we are in a better place than we were in our early 20's (pre kids).... we have prepared now for unexpected things. And we will continue to prepare. We are smarter about our purchases....we are now the kind of people stores dread seeing walk through their doors.  Not only do we use COUPONS, we now use phrases like, "let me think about it", or sometimes we just flat out say, "that is just too high and it does not fit in our budget". I have also learned patience. Patience has proven time and time again to be a money saver.

In today's economy, many people are learning, or possible re-learning the lesson I learned years ago...

It is COOL to be CHEAP!
And it something to be proud of.

Publix New Coupon Policy

Where Shopping Is a Pleasure
It’s Official!   We’ve all been waiting on the *new* Publix Coupon Policy…

The policy will be officially announced this Saturday, May 14th. And does not officially go into effect until Monday, May 23rd to allow the cashiers and customers a few days to adjust to the new policy.

~Publix Coupon Policy:~

Publix will accept manufacturers’ coupons (limit one per item), Publix coupons (originals only—no copies), valid Internet coupons and coupons from nearby competitors identified by each Publix store (competitor names are posted at each Publix store). We will accept coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only. We will not accept percent-off items or percent-off total order coupons. We will only accept coupons for identical merchandise we sell. Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon and we reserve the right to limit quantities. Manager approval is needed for individual coupons above $5. For a buy-one-get-one free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate sale. We will accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item. Dollars-off total order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order. The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.

~ So what does it all mean? ~

Here are the Coupons Publix WILL accept:
  • Manufactures’ Coupons (Limit One per Item) **same as before**
  • Publix Store Coupons (Originals only, no copies) **same as before**
  • Valid Internet Coupons {go HERE to check the Fraudulent Coupon Database if you are concerned}
  • Competitor Coupons Specifically Identified by each Store (there will be a list at Customer Service, and posted signs)
  • Competitor Pharmacies for prescriptions only {no Wags or CVS coupons accepted}
  • The Coupons must be used on the Identical Merchandise Publix sells
  • One Manufactures and One Store (either a Publix or a Competitor) coupon on the same item {this is “Stacking” **same as before**}
  • Dollar-off Total Order Coupons are limited to One Publix and One Competitor Coupon per order

The Coupons Publix will NOT accept:
  • Percent off Coupons for Items
  • Percent off Total Order Coupons
  • Walgreens or CVS Coupons (Drugstore Competitor Coupons only relate to Pharmacy Prescriptions)

Extra Info:
  • Manager approval is needed for individual coupons above $5 (any coupon THIS high is most likely fraudulent anyway, so we wouldn’t be using it).
  • Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon and they reserve the right to limit quantities…I believe this as meaning that the Green Advantage and Yellow Advantage (or any Publix store coupon for that matter) will be limited to (1) coupon per order. Not (1) coupon per item as it has been interpreted in the past.
So…there you have it! The waiting is over and we now know our stuff. We are still going to be saving as much as ever! No need to worry…
